چکیده
In this work, a study on Variable Neighborhood Search algorithms for multi-depot dial-a-ride problems is presented. In dial-a-ride problems patients need to be transported from pre-specified pickup locations to pre-specified delivery locations, under different considerations. The addressed problem presents several constraints and features, such as heterogeneous vehicles, distributed in different depots, and heterogeneous patients. The aim is of minimizing the total routing cost, while respecting time-window, ride-time, capacity and route duration constraints. The objective of the study is of determining the best algorithm configuration in terms of initial solution, neighborhood and local search procedures. At this aim, two different procedures for ∗Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione e Scienze Matematiche, University of Siena, Via Roma, 56, 53100 Siena, Italy, e-mail [email protected] †Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione e Scienze Matematiche, University of Siena, Via Roma, 56, 53100 Siena, Italy, e-mail [email protected]

A Two-Phase Hybrid Heuristic Method for a Multi-Depot Inventory-Routing Problem
In this study, a two phase hybrid heuristic approach was proposed to solve the multi-depot multi-vehicle inventory routing problem (MDMVIRP). Inventory routing problem (IRP) is one of the major issues in the supply chain networks that arise in the context of vendor managed systems (VMI) The MDMVIRP combines inventory management and routing decision. We are given on input a fleet of homogeneous ...
متن کاملA Combined Stochastic Programming and Robust Optimization Approach for Location-Routing Problem and Solving it via Variable Neighborhood Search algorithm
The location-routing problem is one of the combined problems in the area of supply chain management that simultaneously make decisions related to location of depots and routing of the vehicles. In this paper, the single-depot capacitated location-routing problem under uncertainty is presented. The problem aims to find the optimal location of a single depot and the routing of vehicles to serve th...
متن کاملA tabu search heuristic for the static multi-vehicle dial-a-ride problem
This article describes a tabu search heuristic for the dial-a-ride problem with the following characteristics. Users specify transportation requests between origins and destinations. They may provide a time window on their desired departure or arrival time. Transportation is supplied by a fleet of vehicles based at a common depot. The aim is to design a set of least cost vehicle routes capable ...
متن کاملModels and Algorithms for the Heterogeneous Dial-a-Ride Problem with Driver Related Constraints
This paper introduces models and algorithms for a dial-a-ride problem arising in the transportation of patients by non-profit organizations such as the Austrian Red Cross. This problem is characterized by the presence of heterogeneous vehicles and patients. In our problem, two types of vehicles are used, each providing a different capacity for four different modes of transportation. Patients ma...
متن کاملSolving a multi-depot location-routing problem with heterogeneous vehicles and fuzzy travel times by a meta-heuristic algorithm
A capacitated location-routing problem (CLRP) is one of the new areas of research in distribution management. It consists of two problems; locating of facilities and routing of the vehicle with a specific capacity. The purpose of the CLRP is to open a set of stores, allocate customers to established deposits, and then design vehicle tours in order to minimize the total cost. In this paper, a ne...
